Science

At Marriott, we provide a Science curriculum designed to develop confident, independent learners who have a passion for discovery and the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the world. Our aim is for children to work collaboratively as well as independently, building resilience and problem-solving skills along the way.

We encourage children to ask questions about how and why things happen in the world around them. It is essential that our learners understand how their bodies work and how to care for them, why physical phenomena occur, and how to use chemicals safely. They also learn to handle tools accurately and responsibly—such as thermometers and electrical devices—that they may encounter in everyday life.

Our curriculum offers opportunities for practical experiments, hands-on learning, careful observation, questioning results, and drawing conclusions. We strive to nurture curiosity in Science so that children are motivated to explore and learn more about the world around them.

We aim to equip children with a strong scientific vocabulary that prepares them for future learning and careers. The curriculum revisits key skills and knowledge regularly, enabling pupils to build on their growing scientific understanding. Additionally, we want them to appreciate how key scientific figures have contributed to advancements that improve our daily lives.
