On the 27th November Year 6 visited Warning Zone at Frog Island in Leicester which promotes an understanding of risk, safety and responsibility. They learn about building site, train and road safety plus the risks of on-line gaming and social media through interactive sessions. The cost of this trip would be £14 but we managed to secure sponsorship from EE Smith Contracts, a local company on Morris Road who specialise in interior fit-outs and who are also one of the UK’s leaders in training apprentice joiners and cabinet makers. The school covered the cost of the bus. This has allowed us to offer this great opportunity to the children at NO cost to parents and carers.
Many Year 6 children took part in bikeability at the end of October. It was great to see the children become more confident in their abilities, develop their road sense and also to be out in the fresh air having fun.
More information about the awards can be found here: https://bikeability.org.uk/
Year 6 enjoyed a full day of activities at Beaumanor Hall. They recreated the original purpose of Beaumanor during World War II by listening to secret codes over real radio frequencies. They also took part in an air raid to allow them to empathise with the feelings children of their age might have had at the time of the war.
